Rebuilding the Village Hall
This page is intended to keep people up to date about how the new Village Hall project is progressing and to encourage feedback and discussion.
In May 2009 a Village Hall Working Group was set up by the Parish Council to develop plans for rebuilding the Village Hall.
Plans for a partial rebuild and a full rebuild were initially studied but after a very well attended open meeting of the Village on 14 July, the Group have been concentrating on plans for a completely new-build hall.
The Group consists of Bill Pinkerton (Chairman), Mary Ann Canning, Robert Crocker, Peter Newell, Martin Shann and Colin Smith.
The architect employed for this project is Ray Tollady of 43 Ducklington Lane Witney
The Quantity Surveyor is Rowland Butt of Brading Butt, Meadow Court, Witney and the Health & Safety Consultant is Brian Leech of B & L Associates Ltd., Freeland.
The Group has been deliberately kept small so it does not get unwieldy but it will try to liaise with as many Hall users, Village Groups and interested people as it can. Members of the Group have been asked to liaise with groups as follows:
Baby & Toddler’s: Mary Ann
Football and Cricket Clubs: Robert Crocker
Fund-raising: Robert Crocker
Other clubs (Gardening, Tuesday, Exercise etc.): Peter Newell
Orchestra: Martin Shann
“Parents” group: Peter Newell
Parish Councillors: Martin Shann
Scouts, Guides, Beavers and Cubs: Colin Smith
If there other groups not represented above who would like to interact with the Working Group, please contact Peter Newell.
This site will provide links to the minutes of the Working Group as well as plans and proposals for the site as they emerge. The group also encourages discussion using the FORUM.
